The Karnataka High Court ruled that consensual sex cannot be considered rape if the relationship ends "merely because love wanes away by efflux of time". Justice M Nagaprasanna observed this while hearing a petition by a man booked in a rape and cheating case. "Whether it's on pretext of marriage or otherwise...acts between the parties were purely consensual," he added.
