Continuous heavy rainfall in Mumbai and its nearby areas caused floods in Coastal Konkan, parts of the Mumbai metropolitan region and several districts in western Maharashtra and Vidarbha on Thursday. Floodwater from the nearby Vasisthi river submerged several areas of Chiplun town in Ratnagiri. The state administration is planning to evacuate residents who have been stranded in submerged areas.
