Cooking oil ingredient linked to hard-to-treat breast cancer: Study

Linoleic acid, found in seed oils like soybean and safflower oil, and animal products including pork and eggs, enhances growth of hard-to-treat "triple negative" breast cancer subtype, a preclinical study found. Linoleic acid can activate major growth pathway in tumour cells by binding to a protein called FABP5, researchers said. Same pathway can enhance growth of some prostate cancer subtypes.
