A US-based study has found washing hands in cold water removed the same amount of harmful bacteria as hot. Researchers asked volunteers to wash their hands 20 times each at 15ºC, 26ºC, and 38ºC water temperatures using varying amounts of soap. "We are wasting energy to heat water to a level that is not necessary," researchers said.
