Could Vitamin B12 therapy target brain cancer cells?

A modified vitamin B12 compound, nitrosylcobalamin (NO-Cbl), crossed the blood-brain barrier and accumulated in glioblastoma cells in animal studies. Dr Swaroop Gopal said the research showed stronger tumour-suppressing effects when NO-Cbl was combined with temozolomide or TRAIL. However, the therapy remains at the preclinical stage and requires human trials to establish safety and effectiveness.
