A Madhya Pradesh court sentenced a man to death for murdering a woman, who had adopted him as her son, for ₹32 lakh-FD. It quoted teachings from Ramayan, Guru Granth Sahib, Bible and Quran, saying, "These teachings command children to serve...parents until old age". It observed that if a protector turns destroyer, "why'd parents want to raise such a child?"
