COVID-19 variant BA.3.2, also called 'Cicada', has spread across US, as per health officials. As of February 11, 2026, BA.3.2 had been reported in 23 countries and detections began increasing in September 2025, US' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. As per WHO, currently approved COVID-19 vaccines are expected to continue providing protection against severe disease.
