Cracking the cosmos code with next-gen X-Ray polarimetry
short by / on Tuesday, 16 June, 2026
Scientists from the Physics Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, and Stanford University have developed a highly sensitive dual-ended crystal sensor to detect hard X-rays from black holes and pulsars. By placing silicon photomultipliers on both ends of a 10cm Sodium Iodide crystal, the instrument accurately maps an incoming X-ray's exact position and total energy simultaneously.
