Tamil Nadu's Ramar Pillai, who a decade ago claimed to have created a herbal fuel, has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment for cheating the public. Besides Pillai, four others were also sentenced to a three-year term. According to the prosecution, Pillai in 1999-2000 illegally mixed petroleum products, intended to be fraudulently used as "automobile fuel from herbs".
