Crude prices surge as Middle East conflict disrupts supply routes

Global crude oil prices climbed close to $78/barrel on Thursday as growing Middle East conflict raised fears of supply disruptions. Shipping through Strait of Hormuz has been affected, while China has halted fuel exports to protect domestic supplies. Although US crude inventories rose by 3.5 million barrels, investors remain cautious as tensions around Iran and Gulf region continue the threat.
