A relatively unknown cryptocurrency called Omicron (OMIC) shot up by over 900% since the WHO gave the same name to the newly-discovered COVID-19 variant. The crypto token, which was priced at around $65 (around ₹4,880) on November 27, touched a peak of $689 (around ₹51,730) on Monday. This came even as the crypto market tumbled after the variant's discovery.
