Czech coal mine pit transformed into Lake Most
In the Czech Republic, a former lignite coal mine became Lake Most after flooding began in 2008 and completed in 2014. The lake covers 300+ hectares, reaches 75 metres deep, and opened to visitors in 2020. It cost ~2.5 billion Czech koruna and now hosts beaches and 24+ bird species.
