The Karnataka High Court, acquitting a man from charges of raping a woman after murdering her, said it is "high time" for the government to amend the provisions of Section 377 (carnal intercourse against the order of nature). "The dead body cannot be called as human or person," it observed. The court has, however, confirmed the man's conviction for murder.
