The US State Department said delays in military spending by Taiwan are a "concession to the Chinese Communist Party". This comes after Taiwan's opposition-controlled Parliament approved $25 billion from the proposed $40 billion special defence budget for acquiring arms from US. The State Department urged Taiwan to avoid "further delays in funding the remaining proposed capabilities".
