Delhi Government has announced that from the 2026–27 academic session, the minimum age for admission to Class 1 will be 6+ years. The move will apply to all schools, government, government-aided, and recognised unaided private institutions under the Directorate of Education. The age criteria for the foundational stage will also be revised from the next year in a phased manner.
