Delhi will need around 40 lakh new houses to accommodate the population growth till the year 2047, the Delhi Master Plan 2047 has estimated. The plan proposes encouraging public and private developers to build smaller homes ranging from 25 to 60 sq m in carpet area. "The approach is intended to make housing more accessible," an official said.
