In an effort to reduce pollution, trucks will be allowed entry into Delhi from 11 pm against the existing 9 pm from January 1. The government is also building the Eastern peripheral highway and the Western peripheral expressway so that trucks don't use the city roads. Around 50,000 trucks reportedly enter Delhi every day leading to an increase in pollution.
