Delhi on Monday recorded its highest-ever peak power demand of 8,748 MW, surpassing the previous all-time high of 8,656 MW recorded in 2024 on June 19. This season's previous highest peak power demand was recorded on May 25 at 8,439 MW. This comes amid rising temperatures and as Delhi's heat index (HI), or 'feels-like' temperature, crossed 50°C again on Sunday.
