Delhi reports 200,000 acute respiratory illness cases in 2 years

More than 200,000 respiratory illness cases were recorded in Delhi's six major state hospitals between 2022 and 2024, with over 30,000 hospitalisations, the government told Parliament. Pollution levels, often 20-times the WHO limit, continue to overwhelm hospitals, especially with sick children. Driven by weather conditions, stubble burning, Delhi's toxic air has prompted judicial intervention.
