The Delhi government has withdrawn the 70% 'Special Corona Fee' on the MRP of liquor with effect from Wednesday, although VAT on liquor has been increased from 20% to 25%, authorities stated. The decision was taken after the Excise Department reportedly stated that the fee may encourage smuggling of liquor from Haryana and UP, leading to losses to the exchequer.
