In the latest International Trade Union Confederation Global Rights Index, India has been downgraded to the worst possible rating. This places India in the same bracket as authoritarian regimes such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Colombia, Cambodia, and 33 others, where trade union freedoms are severely restricted or entirely suppressed.
