Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday enhanced the maximum amount of money a senior citizen can invest in the Senior Citizen Savings Scheme (SCSS) to ₹30 lakh compared to ₹15 lakh now. She also announced a one-time small saving scheme for women called 'Mahila Samman Saving Certificate'. It will offer 7.5% interest rate for a maximum deposit of ₹2 lakh.
