Developer launches free, open-source alternatives to MS Office

Software engineer Brandon Thomas has expanded his ArtCraft project from Adobe-style creative tools to free, open-source alternatives to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Developed with assistance from Anthropic’s Claude AI, the tools aim to challenge subscription-based software. However, they remain in the early stages of development, with security concerns still to be addressed.
