India and Sri Lanka may revive a long-lost route that once connected the two nations. The Dhanushkodi-Talaimannar rail line project aims to reconnect Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu to Talaimannar in north-western Sri Lanka through a cross-border railway link across the Palk Strait. If implemented, it would drastically reduce travel time, promote tourism, and boost trade between the two countries.
