Diesel demand growth in FY25 falls to lowest since COVID pandemic

Growth in demand for diesel in FY25 fell by 2% to 91.4 million tonnes, its lowest level since the COVID-19 pandemic, Oil Ministry's data stated. Diesel consumption's growth in FY25 was 4.3% slower than FY24 and 12.1% slower than FY23. The slow consumption might be affected by rapid adoption of electric vehicles in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai.
