Top-seed Novak Djokovic had to work hard to earn a win in his opening match at Western & Southern Open on Tuesday to defeat Gilles Simon by 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The Cincinnati tournament is the only Masters series event Djokovic has never won. He needs to win this tournament to become the first with titles at all nine ATP Masters.
