After Madras HC upheld a single judge's order directing the lighting of Karthigai Deepam at pillar near a Muslim shrine atop Tamil Nadu's Thiruparankundram hills, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, "Extremely unfortunate that DMK government appealed against judge's order, clearly reflecting bias against Hindu religion." HC also criticised govt for citing law and order for not complying with order.
