DMK MLA N Pugazhenthi, who represented the Vikravandi constituency, passed away on Saturday, 6 April, after a brief illness. He was 71. Pugazhenthi was under treatment in Villupuram. He had attended an election rally along with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin in V Salai village on Friday where he suddenly fainted on the stage.
