Do not unnecessarily evict street vendors during festive season: NHRC to states

The National Human Rights Commission has directed all states/UTs to ensure street vendors, hawkers and small traders aren't unnecessarily evicted or harassed during Navratri, Diwali and Chhath Puja. It added if relocation is required for fire or public safety, authorities must provide suitable alternative vending spaces. It also warned against arbitrary seizure of vendors' goods or belongings.
