A doctor and a lawyer were among 19 people arrested in Chhattisgarh for siphoning ₹64 lakh from government relief funds as compensation for fake snakebite death cases from 2019 to 2024. The accused forged post-mortem reports using old deaths by cancer and suicide, and tampered with bodies to create snakebite marks. Police seized forged government seals during the investigation.
