Dermatologist Dr Abhishek Pilani, founder of Assure Clinic, said prolonged pollution leads to fine particles settling on the scalp and trigger irritation. "Now, once the scalp health is compromised by the pollution, dandruff occurs a lot," he added. Over time, the irritation can affect hair follicles, weakening strands, reducing volume and eventually leading to hair thinning, he said.
