A 66-year-old woman underwent a transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVR) without surgery at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, replacing her heart valve through the carotid artery in the neck due to a narrow leg artery. The procedure shows an alternative method for heart valve replacement. Reports say that the surgery was done with the financial support of the government.
