Does one need to file income tax return for dividend income?

A taxpayer who received dividend income would need to file an income tax return if tax has been deducted from the income. One can submit Form 121 to all firms where they hold shares to pay them dividend without tax deduction at source, Moneycontrol reported. If the income exceeds basic applicable exemptions before deductions, one needs to file an ITR.
