Spain's Lamine Yamal took a dig at then-Portugal head coach Roberto Martínez after he had said he believes in numerology. Yamal said, "I don't believe in numerology...[Martínez] said something like that...and Mikel Merino scored the winner." Martínez called number six "very positive" before Spain's number six, Merino, scored a winner to knock Portugal out of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
