Allahabad High Court upheld a trial court order directing a man to pay ₹4,000/month maintenance to his wife. The court said, "Those who feel...they cannot maintain a wife and children if...marriage goes sour, ought not to get married...but having done so, they cannot fall back on their poor financial condition to escape." It noted that the amount wasn't "in excess".
