Don't want to use Devanagari: Official on TN changing rupee symbol on state Budget

Following a controversy over the Tamil Nadu government changing the official rupee symbol on its 2025-26 state Budget logo to the Tamil letter for "Ru", State Planning Commission Executive Vice-Chairman J Jeyaranjan said, "We don't want to use Devanagari. That's all." The '₹' symbol is an amalgam of Devanagari "Ra" and the Roman Capital "R", as per a government website.
