The Madras High Court on Thursday directed the Tamil Nadu Police to not harass persons summoned for enquiry at police stations. Police should summon a witness or an accused in any case through a written summon, it added. The court observed that power to enquire must be exercised within the framework of Chapter XII of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
