Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband has issued a fatwa asking Muslims to avoid marrying into families whose members work in banks, as income earned from interests is considered 'haram' (illegitimate) in Islam. The fatwa was issued after a person, in a query, asked if he should consider marriage proposals of families where income was earned from banking jobs.
