DRDO to develop indigenous lightweight bulletproof glass

DRDO and CSIR-CGCRI are jointly developing indigenous lightweight bulletproof glass for armored vehicles under a ₹50 crore, four-year project. The technology offers 30-50% reduction in weight and thickness vs imported alternatives, and can withstand AK-47 fire at 100 metres. Initial trials at DRDO-TBRL successfully stopped rounds from a Trichy Assault Rifle.
