Clashes between two groups in a Sri Lankan prison that killed 26 people and injured dozens occurred after some prisoners leaked ⁠information about drug smuggling into the prison to prison officials, the Sri Lankan Minister ​of Justice said. "This had angered a second ​group of inmates...prisoners attacked prison officials with ​bricks and poles...prison officials fired in self-defence," he added.
