Duke University will pay the US government $112.5 million to settle a whistleblower lawsuit, which alleged a technician falsified research to obtain millions of dollars in government funding. The government alleged Duke knowingly submitted faked data to federal agencies in 30 grants between 2006 and 2018. The whistleblower will get $33.75 million and several research papers have been retracted.
