According to a study published in Geophysical Research Letters, the Earth is causing the Moon to rust. Scientists from Macau University of Science and Technology in China discovered that oxygen particles blown from Earth can turn lunar minerals into hematite, or rust. Rust was first spotted on the Moon in 2020 during India’s Chandrayaan-1 mission.
