A study published in Icarus suggested that passing stars are the most probable trigger for instability in our solar system during the next four billion years. Their gravitational pull could potentially throw the Earth off its orbit, sending it hurtling into another planet or even the Sun. While the likelihood is extremely low, researchers said it's not entirely impossible.
