An analysis of Hawaiian volcanic rocks by University of Göttingen researchers revealed Earth's core is leaking gold and other metals. Researchers found traces of Ruthenium (Ru) in volcanic rocks, stating they must "ultimately" have come from Earth's core. Over 99.999% of Earth’s stores of gold and other precious metals lie buried under 3,000 km of solid rock, the study said.
