Eating more rice could prevent obesity, study suggests

Obesity levels are substantially lower in countries that consume high amounts of rice (150g/day/person) than countries with lower rice intake (14g), as per a study comprising 136 countries. Researchers accounted for factors like total energy consumption, smoking, and GDP per capita. Scientists estimate that increasing average rice consumption by a quarter of a cup could reduce worldwide obesity by 1%.
