ED imposes ₹3.44-crore fine on BBC India over FEMA violation

Enforcement Directorate (ED) has imposed a ₹3.44-crore penalty on BBC India for alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), multiple reports claimed. Additionally, three of its directors, Giles Antony Hunt, Indu Shekhar Sinha and Paul Michael Gibbons, have been fined over ₹1.14 crore each. Moreover, BBC India faces a daily ₹5,000 fine from October 15, 2021, until compliance.
