Egypt inaugurated its new strategic command headquarters, the 'Octagon', on July 4. Named after its octagonal design, it has replaced the US' Pentagon as the world's largest defence headquarters, with a floor area nearly eight times larger than the Pentagon's. The Octagon will serve as the centralised military and defence headquarters of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
