Norway has been named the world's most democratic country while Afghanistan has been ranked the least democratic country in the Economist Intelligence Unit's (EIU) Democracy Index 2021. Of the 167 territories surveyed, just 21 were deemed to be full democracies. India, ranked 53rd earlier, appeared on the 46th position in the 2021 list under the 'flawed democracies' category.
