Electricity bills may rise across several states as regulators seek to comply with a Supreme Court order, Financial Express reported. The court directed states in 2025 to prepare a roadmap for liquidation of "regulatory assets", which arise when distribution firms fail to recover full power supply costs. States account for an estimated ₹3 lakh crore in regulatory assets.
