India's overall unemployment rate rose to 7.8% in the month of June, according to data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). The fall in employment was led by unemployment in rural areas, which jumped from 6.62% in May to 8.03% in June. India saw its lowest employment in June in the last 12 months, the CMIE said.
